Shoehorn Bottle Opener – kiuho x Metalize
Shoehorn Bottle Opener – kiuho x Metalize
This isn’t just an opener — it’s a piece of history reborn. Solid, functional, and built with character, this is more than a tool. It’s an artifact — one that bridges craftsmanship, culture, and the Never Not Riding spirit we live by.
Made in Taiwan by Metalize Productions, this vintage-inspired shoehorn bottle opener carries the rugged charm of mid-century Americana, when everyday tools were built to last and built to serve more than one purpose. Back then, combination tools like shoehorn bottle openers were a staple in bars, shops, and homes — practical objects that reflected an era before throwaway culture.
Hand finished aging effect
Each piece in this edition has been given an unique patina aging treatment by kiuho — a seasoned movie texture artist known for bringing cinematic props to life with authentic weathering and detail. His touch makes every opener feel like it’s traveled decades, carrying the worn-in soul of a true vintage find.
In kiuho's own word:
"Different materials age in their own ways. Metal, paint, and sweat leave behind marks that can’t be faked. Time, handling, and habit give every tool its own scars.
This shoehorn bottle opener is made from stainless steel — tough, rust-resistant, and almost impossible to corrode with chemicals. To bring out that worn-in character, I used pigments instead of acid. Each piece went through multiple rounds of sanding, layered coloring, and hand polishing, then sealed with a thin coat of varnish. The result is a realistic patina that mimics how stainless steel darkens and stains over years of use.
No two openers look exactly the same. Each carries its own level of wear, like a tool that’s already lived a life on someone’s workbench."
